Landmark office building 12 King Street has reached its highest point, with concrete poured on the 7th floor roof terrace, ahead of the building’s planned completion this winter.
12 King Street, in the final stages of redevelopment by Leeds-based Opus North and funded by Fiera Real Estate UK, stands at more than 29 metres tall and aims to be Leeds’s most energy-efficient office building when it opens.
The Grade A, 54,500 sq ft high-spec property will boast cutting-edge ‘smart’ building technology alongside market-leading sustainability credentials, right in the heart of the Leeds Central Business District.
The building’s refurbishment includes a complete replacement of the fifth and sixth floors, a stunning new façade, a state-of-the-art cycle spa and two new floors – with a communal sky lounge and roof terrace to encourage better workplace wellbeing.
Ryan Unsworth, Development Director at Opus North, said: “12 King Street is designed to provide a secure, flexible and contemporary working environment in a prime city-centre location. The building will provide 7 floors of Grade A office space with panoramic views across the city centre.
“When completed, the scheme will offer 7 floors of energy-efficient, tech-enabled space close to all major transport links, making it an incredibly desirable scheme for modern businesses.”
Having undergone major renovation works over the past 18 months, the building will achieve 13% better energy consumption, a 14% reduction on carbon emissions, 29% less energy consumption for heating and cooling, and 42% less water consumption. The redevelopment is also targeting BREEAM Excellent rating and has improved its EPC rating from D to A.
Ryan added: “This project is one of Leeds’s highest-profile office redevelopments, proving investor confidence in the city, which is only growing with the relocation of leading global brands here.
“We are really looking forward to the launch of 12 King Street and are delighted with the progress of the build. We will be welcoming potential tenants over the coming few months and are excited to launch this much-needed premium office space to the city’s businesses.”
